Contemporary drug treatment is now characterised by a focus on recovery orientated integrated systems. This one-day course offers constructive and practical strategies to recovery orientated drug treatment.

Building on the concepts of Recovery Orientated Integrated Systems (ROIS) participants will consider some of the key issues in recovery orientated drug treatment including ‘twin-track’ treatment models and single point of assessment.

Participants will have opportunity to critically assess some of the key themes within the contemporary recovery including definitions of recovery, consensus statements on recovery and options for harm reduction within a recovery agenda.

This course will be of interest to staff working in the drug treatment system at any level or tier. The course effectively integrates the key principles of harm reduction within a recovery orientated treatment system.

Learning Objectives:

• To understand the principles of a recovery orientated integrated system
• To consider and evaluate definitions of recovery and consensus positions on recovery
• To critically evaluate the benefits and limitations of recovery strategies and interventions
• To improve understanding of a treatment continuum and the potential effects of a polarised debate on treatment options
