Averting Aggression

This course will help participants identify and understand the factors that contribute to abusive/aggressive behaviour, and help to avoid such incidents arising. Understanding warning signs, the assault cycle and diffusion techniques will help build confidence and can be utilised in the workplace. This course aims to avert aggression; it does not cover physical restraint or self-defence.

Learning Objectives

  • To demonstrate effective communication that shows respect and reduces abusive/aggressive behaviour
  • To recognise and know how to appropriately deal with triggers to abusive/aggressive behaviour
  • To understand the importance of constructively reviewing abusive/aggressive incidents
  • To understand the importance of recording and reporting information on abusive/aggressive behaviour
