Working With Sex Workers

This course will examine the nature and scope of the sex industry in Britain today. We will look at the history of the exchange of sexual services for gain or favour, the main drivers for sex work and how to reach people. There are many issues facing sex workers and they will be different depending on the sector they are in. We will explore best practice in engaging people and retention in service and how to work with clients with substance use issues.

Learning Objectives:

  • To explore the range and nature of the sex industry in the UK
  • To explore the different needs of clients in different sectors in the industry
  • To understand how to reach sex workers
  • To identify good practice and set up models of service delivery
  • To explore sensitive and effective ways to work with sex workers with substance use issues
