The HIT Hot Topics Conference, held annually in Liverpool since 2011, continues HIT’s legacy of running cutting edge, high quality harm reduction and drug policy convenings. Whilst primarily UK-focused, HIT’s connection to activists and advocates around the world brings some of the most interesting and exciting speakers to our ‘family gatherings’, with side events almost as unmissable as the conference itself!

Hot Topics 2025

On the 31st of Oct 2025, the thirteenth annual HIT Hot Topics Conference was held at Liverpool Hilton. Speakers spoke about ADHD and other nurodiversity in the context of substance use, decolonising harm reduction, drug checking, heteronormative services in a chemsex context, ketamine, pleasure histories of harm reduction, IPED harm reduction developments, NSP service improvement, the decline of NSP delivery in Wales and much more.

Health and Social Benefits of Gardening

This Hot Topics seminar on the health and social benefits of gardening took place on Wednesday 2nd September 2015. The event was inspired by HMP Rye Hill’s organic growing project, launched in May 2013 with Garden Organic, offering therapeutic horticultural intervention to offenders with a history of substance abuse.
